SMS Responder Version 8.00
We have just released the latest version of our specialist emergency messaging system, SMS Responder. The biggest change is the addition of an iPhone app and an improved Android app. The apps give SMS Responder three significant advantages:
1. Cost Savings. Messages to our apps will always cost less than SMS, and in some cases will be free.
2. Coverage. Some members may live or work in areas with poor mobile coverage, but our apps can receive messages via home or business WiFi.

iPhone App Approved
Following on from our Android app, the SMS Responder iPhone app has now been approved for inclusion on the app store. Version 8 of SMS Responder (due for release shortly) will be able to send and receive messages to iPhone owners by data as well as SMS.
Integrated SMS/App solution released
Version 7.10 of SMS Responder pairs the outdoor coverage of SMS with the guarenteed availability of WiFi.
The new system can send to an app on the recipient's phone, meaning virtually all homes and workplaces will have 100% coverage. Where the app is not installed or does not have coverage (e.g. rural locations with no 3G), an SMS is sent instead.
The new app also offers a significan reduction in costs and improved usability. For example, if the message contains a postcode then clicking on that postcode will launch the phone's default SatNav app.

Responder Technology, the developers behind SMS Responder, the resilient team call out service, have been a little busy!
We have been working hard to complement our SMS product with the addition of an App, currently working on Andriod but with iPhone support soon to follow.
The App lives on your smartphone, just like all the other apps that you use on a daily basis. It receives messages from SMS Responder and can be replied to just as you would with a text message.

Version 7 is coming soon!
We're working hard on Version 7 which for the first time incorporates our own Apps to both reduce costs and increase the effectiveness of our messaging system.
Version 7 launches at the Lowland Search Conference in September where we will be running workshops to explain how to get the best from the new features.
FirstCall could increase volunteer team callouts
Many of our customers are members of volunteer teams assisting police, ambulance or County Council EPUs. Although these groups are keen to help there are practical hurdles to overcome if the team (like most) does not have a 24 hour manned office.
At the start of an incident, control rooms (for whatever service) are busy places and staff can't afford to spend too long navigating phone menus or waiting for a 'duty phone' to be answered. Version 6.0 Released
Responder Technology today released Version 6.0 of SMS Responder adding smart-phone and tablet support. Another significant addition is the facility for police and emergency planning Control Rooms to reliably contact multiple voluntary or statutary groups at once, or national bodies to activate their local groups
Training day is a success!
Responder Technology Ltd organised a training day for 14 delegates, kindly hosted by Cambridgeshire Search & Rescue who sent 5 of their members. Also represented were Leicestershire Search & Rescue, Norfolk Search & Rescue, Central Rescue UK, Northants 4x4 Response, BHC 4x4 Response and South and City College Birmingham.
